Work organisation at the Hospital

Even though the spread of COVID is slowing down, we need to remain alert.

SCHEDULED WORK

Before coming in for a scheduled appointment or admission to the hospital, please make sure to ask yourself the following health declaration questions available HEREIf you answered YES to any of these questions, please notify the child’s attending physician before coming to the hospital or cancel the appointment by calling 697 7200 or e-mailing to cancel at lastehaigla dot ee

  • PLEASE NOTE! If the child or the child’s chaperone has been quarantined (contact with the infection, trip abroad, etc.), it is not allowed to come in for a scheduled appointment or hospitalisation and we ask you to please cancel the appointment.
  • If a child is admitted to hospital, a prior COVID-test is required for both a child aged over 5 and his/her chaperone,
    which will be organised by the doctor referring the child to the hospital.
    You do not need to test, if You have had the COVID-19 disease in the last six months and your doctor has declared you to be healthy, or if you have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the last 12 Months.
  • In certain cases, the child’s doctor may consider it necessary that patients under the age of 5, or patients receiving outpatient treatment, take a prior COVID-test if specific examinations are planned where the infection risk is higher than the average.
  • Upon your arrival, a customer service attendant / health care professional will ask specifying questions about the health declaration.
  • At appointments/examinations, only one adult is allowed to accompany the child; please do not take other children or family members along.
  • The patients coming in for scheduled outpatient appointments and admission to the hospital will get in through the general door.
  • At the registration desk, you will be asked to disinfect your hands and put on a mask.
  • While at the hospital, please remain in your ward and do not walk around the hospital.
     

EMERGENCY WORK

  • Emergency reception of patients is open 24/7. We ask patients with acute symptoms of an illness to only go in through the door of the emergency care department (EMO), open twenty-four hours a day on all days of the week.
     
  • For emergency patients coming to the emergency care or trauma department: if the child or the child’s chaperone has been in contact with a COVID-positive person or if you have come from abroad within the past 14 days (quarantine), please do not come in, but let us know by ringing the doorbell – someone will be there to meet you, specify the circumstances and let you know how you should move around in the hospital.
     
  • We ask emergency patients and their chaperones to also ask themselves the health declaration questions given on the wall by the reception desk of the emergency department and the trauma department.
     
  • We ask emergency patients and their chaperones to disinfect hands and wear a face mask.
  • All hospitalised children aged over 5 and their chaperones will be tested for COVID-19.

 

VISITING
From 14 September 2020, patients are not allowed to be visited; in exceptional cases, visits can be made by agreement with the child’s attending physician.
Parcels can be delivered to the patients to the hospital’s information desk between 12 noon and 7 p.m.
All hospital entrances except the emergency entrance are closed at 4 p.m. on weekdays and for weekends.
The restrictions serve to protect the patients and decrease the likelihood of the staff falling ill.

IF YOUR CHILD IS DISCHARGED FROM THE HOSPITAL,

you can pick him/her up by coming in through the front door (preferably between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.).
Please let the information desk know about your arrival and wait for your child to be brought to you.
